On the evening of Friday 14th September, the sounds of ‘All are welcome’ resounded around the Sacred Heart Church, Middlesbrough to welcome Fr Gerard Robinson and Fr Paul Dowling to the parish.
Mass was led by Mgr Gerry Dasey, assisted by Deacon Ray and attended by priests of the local area. Monsignor, in his homily, quoted Archbishop Kelly, who on the last visit to the late Bishop Harris had been urged by him to tell his priests to get out and spread the good news. This is the task passed on to Fr Gerard and Fr Paul, and to carry on Bishop John’s wish to set up the House of Formation.
The evening concluded in the Parish Hall with food donated by the parishioners and entertainment by the Robson Irish School of Dancing, African drums and dancing by members of the parish.
