Dear Sisters and Brothers,

Bishop Terry has kindly invited me to mark my Silver Jubilee as a Bishop with a Mass in St Mary’s Cathedral on Saturday 3rd December at midday. I am delighted to have this chance to celebrate a Mass of Thanksgiving in a Cathedral church which means a lot to me, and among those of yourselves – lay people, religious, deacons and priests – who might be able to be present on that occasion.

It is now four years since I left Middlesbrough but the memory of those years when I served the Diocese as your Bishop is an abiding and happy one. To have the opportunity then to meet some of yourselves again around the altar and socially afterwards is something special to anticipate. I look forward greatly to being with you.
