A special Mass for the sick and their families, NHS frontline workers and those working in social care is to be celebrated in a different cathedral each week, including St Mary’s in Middlesbrough.
Catholic bishops recognise that the pandemic is affecting everyone but that those who are sick and their families are suffering particular hardships brought about by isolation from those they love.
Our frontline workers in hospitals and care homes are also giving exceptional service to those who are vulnerable at this time.
In order to show a spiritual solidarity with all of them, bishops will celebrate Masses every Thursday at 7pm, which will be livestreamed for people to join.
