Catechists from across the Diocese of Middlesbrough are invited to step away from the busyness of parish life and come together for The Well: A Day of Reflection for Catechists.
The event, from 10.30am to 3pm on Saturday January 30 2027, will be held in the peaceful surroundings of Thicket Priory, Thorganby, York.
Catechists give generously of their time, gifts and faith as they accompany children, young people and adults on their journey with Christ. Yet those who serve others also need opportunities to pause, reflect and return to the source of their ministry.
Inspired by the encounter of Jesus with the Samaritan woman at the well, the day will offer catechists space for prayer, reflection and fellowship with others who share in this important ministry. The programme will include reflective sessions, refreshments and conversation, and the celebration of Mass with Canon John Lumley.
Joining Nicola Sweetman in leading the day will be Bernadette Murray, who will share her wealth of experience in Ignatian spirituality and offer practical guidance for deepening our lives of prayer.
Whether you are an experienced catechist or have only recently begun serving in your parish, The Well offers an opportunity to be refreshed in faith, encouraged in your vocation, and reminded that our ministry always begins with our own encounter with Christ.
Come to the well. Take time to rest in the Lord’s presence and receive afresh the living water that Christ offers.
