Read-a-Book-a-Month, York

The Read-a-Book-a-Month bible-reading challenge continues to gather York Christians together. The United Reformed Church (URC) in Priory Street will host the launch event for the books of Leviticus and Numbers. Retired Baptist minister, Tim Evans, whose notes Mary Callan borrowed while writing the pamphlets, will give a talk on these challenging books. ‘Tim brings years of prayer and wisdom to these studies’ says Mary, urging everyone to attend this unique event.

Fifteen years ago, Tim Evans launched a fraternal group for church leaders in West York. Now friendships are nourished at the Wednesday morning prayer-breakfast, usually at the URC church, Priory Street.

York’s URC minister, Graham Maskery, is an important figure in ecumenical circles, with a warm respect for Cardinal Ratzinger even before the latter was elected Pope Benedict XVI. Recently he took part in the ecumenical pilgrimage to Lourdes led by Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams.

Leviticus and Numbers: Sunday 18th January, 3.00 pm, URC Church, Priory Street, York. More information, and pamphlets to download, e-mail dunedesertplanet@btinternet.com
