On 22nd May, a group of parishioners along with Fr Pat Keogh from St Joseph’s Church, Middlesbrough went on a very interesting tour of Teesport organised by Tony McAvoy, Apostleship of the Sea Chaplain, together with Colin Worswick, Missions to Seamen Chaplain.
Tony explained about the workings of the port, which is the second largest port in the country, and the spiritual role of the chaplaincy in the port. We also visited the Seamen’s Mission Centre where we were provided with a very enjoyable lunch.
The photo shows the group standing on the jetty alongside the M.V. Mandarin which was loading with steel products at the time.
