The Sea to Sea Challenge

Apostleship of the Sea is calling for people to sign up for its Sea to Sea challenge to have a chance to walk in the footsteps of the apostles.

Apostleship of the Sea (AOS) is offering a truly unique experience for those who love to travel. A chance to visit the Holy Land and to participate in an overland trek, all to raise funds for AOS. Participants will have the opportunity to visit some of the world’s most impressive sites and to walk in the footsteps of the apostles across a land steeped in history and religion. Join AOS for this fantastic and rare challenge and venture where the tourists rarely go, while helping to improve the lives of seafarers.

Taking place in October 2008, Sea to Sea will see a group of adventurers set off on a trek through the Holy Land, setting off from the vibrant city of Tel Aviv and travelling through some of the most beautiful terrain before reaching the finish point at the Sea of Galilee. The trek is open to anyone, however places are limited and they will be awarded on a first come, first served basis. Willing participants are encouraged to register for the Sea to Sea trek early to avoid disappointment.

AOS’s Fundraising Director Sheila Bailey, comments: ‘Those signing up for the Sea to Sea trek are asked to pay a minimum of £250 to secure their place, and then raise a minimum of £2000 through fundraising and sponsorship. The money raised will be used to fund projects and services around the UK that directly benefit seafarers. Some people can feel a bit daunted by the prospect of raising the money, but in reality it’s quite easy to do, and the AOS fundraising team is always on hand to lend advice and offer useful fundraising tips!’

For more information about the Sea to Sea trek or to register your interest in taking part, contact Annie Scharwatt on 0207 012 8609 or e-mail annie@apostleshipofthesea.org.uk

By joining AOS on this trek you will be helping to provide immediate practical and pastoral support to vulnerable seafarers that visit British ports. The challenge may be tough at times but you’ll return with a real sense of pride in your achievement and you’ll have found yourself a lot of new friends along the way!

So, if you feel inspired to take part in the challenge of a lifetime then now is the time to do so!
