Remembering All Those Lost in Tragic Circumstances

A multi-denominational Memorial Service for the families of those who have lost their lives in tragic circumstances is to be held at St Mary’s RC Cathedral at 3.00 pm on Sunday 22nd February 2009.

It is emphasised that the persons who have lost their lives in tragic circumstances may be associated with events such as road traffic accidents, events at work, on holiday, etc that have brought their lives to a sudden and unexpected end.

The Order of Service is being arranged by Canon Eddie Gubbins in conjunction with members of SAMM (Teesside) – Support after Murder and Manslaughter.

The Rt Rev Terry Drainey, Bishop of the Diocese of Middlesbrough has, most kindly, expressed his wish to preside over the service.

This type of service has been conducted on a number of occasions by the Late RC Bishop of Hexham and Newcastle, the Rt Rev Kevin Dunn in Newcastle.

Those attending are invited to bring along a photo of their loved ones, have their names added to a roll call and together light a candle in remembrance.

There will be refreshments after the service.

We look forward to welcoming not just individuals but whole families who have been deeply saddened by their losses.
